MEET YOUR NEW MP: BELL RIBEIRO-ADDY
Bell Ribeiro-Addy was born and brought up near Brixton Hill in a Ghanaian family. Bell joined the Labour Party a decade ago, but got really involved in politics when she went to university and was confronted by the presence of the BNP. She got involved with the NUS and from there worked for a number of different political causes. Eventually, in 2012 she started to work for Diane Abbot, overseeing her initiative to support the education of black children, the London Schools and the Black Child (LSBC). In 2015, Bell became Diane's Chief of Staff and Political Advisor.
Bell didn't ever consider standing to be an MP, but was encouraged to stand as Streatham's parliamentary candidate by local party members. Find out more about Bell

“I’m proud to come from a family of migrants from Ghana. Like many others, my parents and extended family came to Britain to help rebuild this country. I know the issues and inequalities that exist in Streatham: from poor pay and discrimination, to a lack of workplace rights and affordable housing, already vulnerable communities are being hammered by austerity.”
